ANOTHER DELAY BY CADDO TAX ASSESSOR ON TAX NOTICES IS PROBLEMSOM

Caddo Parish Tax Assessor Regina Webb has again dropped the ball on providing tax information to the City of Shreveport and the Caddo Parish Sheriff Department. This means, like last year, that Shreveport and Caddo real estate owners will be getting their ad valorem tax bills this month.

Additionally, Webb did not provide the estimated tax information to the City Council in a timely fashion which was needed for preparation of the budget.

The City of Shreveport has extended the Dec. 31 payment deadline to January 16 for payment without penalty. A request has been made to the Sheriff’s office if he extends the payment deadline.

The tax assessor’s delay causes many problems for citizens and businesses who must make substantial payments at year end. Although there is no statewide deadline for the mailing of tax notices, almost all parishes and towns/cities send these out in early to mid-November.

These problems were not experienced when Charlie Henninton was the assessor.

These ad valorem taxes help fund the City of Shreveport, the Caddo School Board, the Caddo Sheriff Office, the Port, BRF, and the towns/cities throughout Caddo Parish.
